I just read this book to my very picky 2 year old. It's very hard for him to pay attention to anything for very long. By the third page of this book he was completely absorbed in it! At one point he was even worried for Leah's safety. I would recommend this book to anybody especially parents with children who love bugs and have a short attention span. The bright and friendly illustrations are just as great as the educational content of the book. I'll be looking for more from Scott Collins!Product details

Great illustrations and a great story, I bought this for my niece for Christmas. She loved it.
A lovely story cleverly teaches younger kids about common insects and their habits. My son thoroughly enjoyed the colorful pictures and especially the quiz at the end.
This book is not only an entertaining, but very educational as well. The pictures are very well done, and combined with the story line, continually keeps my children engaged throughout the book. If you're looking for a fun book, this one's for you.
I love this books story. My children love the adventure of Leah finding out how her light works. Fireflys are amazing bugs and my kids asked why they flash their lights. This book is such a creative way of explaining it and other cool facts about different bugs that Leah comes across along her adventure. As a parent I love the fun story but my favorite part is that it is teaching true facts to my children in a way that they enjoy.
I must say this book was spot on. My 6 year old son surprised himself by reading the book straight from start to finish - quite a feat, I can tell you! The beautiful illustrations probably have something to do with that. And wait for it... ...he then even went for the cute questions at the end. Just like that awesome. It was so nice to see him so pleased with himself - both from reading the whole book and getting most of the questions right. Happy!
A delightful and educational story about bugs. I absolutely loved the graphics. Kept the attention of my restless four year old grandson and his two year old sister. I thought the quiz at the end helped my grandson process what he had listened too. I highly recommend this book.
Fabulous read! I teach third grade and used this book for a "TEXT DEPENDENT QUESTIONS" activity. The last question is an "On My Own" question. It was delightful to hear the varied answers. This book could also be used in first and second grade to build text dependency skills. It would also be a great book to use in CENTERS or with partners. The text, illustrations, and question and answer section at the end of the book created a high interest level with my class. Scott's sense of humor shines through as he responds to his audience about each answer, even the wrong choices that are made. That's a fun surprise at the end of the book. Kids loved it!
